Integrated Utilities Monitoring System Project

The client sought to monitor all utilities inside university, using the PI OSIsoft enterprise infrastructure system for managing data in real time, and SAP software including complete reporting facilities.

CLIENT: KING ABDULLAH UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY

King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) is a graduate level research university located near the village of Thuwal, about 50 miles north of Jeddah on the Red Sea coast of Saudi Arabia.

The client sought to monitor all utilities inside university, using the PI OSIsoft enterprise infrastructure system for managing data in real time, and SAP software including complete reporting facilities.

SOLUTION:

Abunayyan Trading’s Systems Solutions division supplied, programmed, installed and commissioned the monitoring system, including the supply, testing and full development of the PI software; activating the real-time operations connectivity with the SAP system; the supply, testing and commissioning of PLCs for the emergency power generators building and the wastewater treatment plant; developing interfaces with the local SCADA system; and supplying and installing field instruments.

KAUST was able to integrate a substantial part of its infrastructure with the process information database, so it can maintain and operate its assets extremely efficiently using a universal standard. Our proficiency in developing and linking data from the utilities with the software established our client's confidence and trust in Abunayyan Trading for any future projects.
